This research aims to explore the key factors influencing an Internet user’s capacity to accurately identify a phishing website. We carried out quantitative research using a structured survey questionnaire and three experimental tasks. We gathered a total of 621 valid responses and utilized multiple regression analysis to answer the research question. The findings affirm the model’s utility and explanatory power. Future investigations should consider the internet user’s general security practices and behavior, attitudes towards online financial activities, risk-taking ability or risk behaviors, and their possible impacts on the ability to discern a phishing website.
