Why Project NEXUS

Technical risk has MITRE ATT&CK and NIST CSF.
Human risk has... awareness training.

Human behavior is the #1 vector targeted by cybercriminals. Yet most organizations still rely on compliance checklists and generic training videos to solve it. That isn't a strategy, it’s guesswork.

Behavior is where every security domain connects. Project NEXUS is a collaborative initiative to build an open-source behavioral security ontology. For the first time, the industry will have a standardized framework that maps human behaviors directly to threats, vulnerabilities, controls, and quantifiable risk outcomes.

Built by the community, for the community, this living framework brings together security leaders from across industries and academia, with everyone who contributes credited. The work is open to everyone, through readouts, webinars, and collaborative in-person sessions (the first of which has happened – do join us at the next one). This webinar is your gateway to joining the movement.

The result? Human risk that's as legible and measurable as technical risk. Finally.

Building on research led by CybSafe’s head of  Dr. Jason Nurse, Director of Science and Research, the ontology is a living, evolving framework that’s bringing together cybersecurity experts and practitioners from industry to academia.

“Imagine a shared knowledge base that clearly defines how cybersecurity and behavioral science fit together. This is it.”
Dr. Jason Nurse, Director of Science and Research, CybSafe

What you’ll learn in 60 minutes

01

The human risk blind spot

Why the absence of a behavioral ontology is holding the cybersecurity profession back, and the massive capabilities that unlock once we solve it.

02

Inside the ontology

A practical look at how Project NEXUS maps day-to-day human behaviors to real-world security threats, vulnerabilities, controls, and risk outcomes.

03

Your seat at the table

How early participants are already shaping the framework, how your organization can contribute, and how you will be credited in this industry-wide standard.

Meet the leaders
